Friends from around the US made their way out to Robyn's house to celebrate March 3, International Sex Workers' Rights Day. Carol Leigh cooked a pasta sauce, we wrote a poem, planned a visit to the SF Human Rights Commission for March 4, 2010.
I stayed for a few days more, trying to stay warm in the cold and rainy weather (Robyn was happy, said it would fill the reservoirs). The we had a beautiful warm day and I took this picture of Robyn while we visited her neighbor. She had worn herself out digging up a garden bed at the front of her house but she did reach for those rays once we went out!

Robyn and Erika in the tiny room
Robyn is part of a team of people who organize to include sex workers and their rights message at harm reduction conferences around the world. In 2007 she traveled with the team to the meetings of the International Harm Reduction Association in Warsaw, Poland.
"We were greeted like rock stars at the harm reduction conference," wrote Robyn in her report to sex worker organizations upon her return, "People were very glad to see the sex workers here. We spent several days answering questions to CBOs and NGOs working with sex workers."

Unfortunately the rock star treatment did not extend to our accommodations. Robyn, Erika and I slept in a tiny 5 foot wide room the first night, soon after that we left the hotel because they were ripping Erika off. Robyn and I walked the streets around the conference until we saw an attractive conference delegate (a woman we did not know) and pressed her to take us in. We invaded her room, jumped in the the hot-tub and she enjoyed every minute of it.
